Capy Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 29, 2026

Capy is a self-care companion app for Android (package com.salazardevs.capy). You raise a virtual capybara by completing small daily self-care goals. To keep your progress safe, Capy creates an anonymous account for you automatically on first launch and securely backs up your pet, goals, and progress to the cloud. We do not require your name, email, or phone number to use the app. This policy explains exactly what we handle and why.

1. Data stored locally on your device

By default, everything in Capy is stored on your device only, inside the app's private sandboxed storage:

  • Your pet's details — name, pronouns, color, and personality trait
  • Your first name (from onboarding) — used to personalize the UI
  • The support areas you chose during onboarding
  • Your goals, daily completions, energy, and streaks
  • App preferences and the onboarding completion flag

You can permanently erase all of this at any time through Settings → Reset progress inside the app.

2. Automatic anonymous account and cloud sync (Supabase)

On first launch, Capy creates an anonymous account for you automatically — no email, name, or personal details are required — and securely backs up your data to the cloud so your progress isn't lost. For this we use Supabase, Inc. (https://supabase.com/privacy) for secure cloud hosting and authentication. We store:

  • An anonymous account identifier (not linked to your real identity)
  • Your pet, goals, completions, and streaks — tied to that identifier

You can optionally add an email and password to your account so you can restore your Capy on another device. If you do, your email is stored only for authentication. Per-user access controls (row-level security) ensure that only you can read or write your own data.

3. Third-party service: RevenueCat

For subscription management and purchase validation we use RevenueCat, Inc. (https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/).

When you interact with the paywall or restore a purchase, RevenueCat receives:

  • An anonymous identifier generated by RevenueCat (not linked to your real identity)
  • Device platform (Android)
  • Device country code (used for localized pricing)
  • Purchase history of Capy subscriptions only
  • IP address (used temporarily for tax/region calculation)

RevenueCat does not receive your name, pet, goals, or any personal content from the app.

4. Third-party service: Google Play Billing

When you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing, governed by Google's Payment Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

Google Play Billing receives your payment method and Google account email. Capy never sees or stores your payment information.

5. What we do NOT do

  • We do not sell your personal information
  • We do not use your data for advertising
  • We do not use third-party analytics tied to your identity
  • We do not access your photos, contacts, calendar, location, or files

6. Children's privacy

Capy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the app, you can reset all app data through Settings at any time.

7. Data retention and deletion

  • On-device data: retained until you uninstall the app or tap "Reset progress"
  • Cloud data: retained while your account is active; you can request full deletion by emailing us at the address below
  • RevenueCat subscription data: retained according to RevenueCat's policy while your subscription is active, plus audit periods after cancellation
  • Google Play purchase records: retained by Google according to their policies

8. Your rights

  • Access: open the app to view your own data at any time
  • Deletion (local): Settings → Reset progress (permanent)
  • Deletion (cloud): request full account deletion by email (see Contact)
  • Subscription cancellation: Google Play Store → Subscriptions → Capy → Cancel

9. Security

  • On-device data uses Android's app-private storage (sandboxed from other apps)
  • Cloud data is protected with per-user access controls (row-level security)
  • All communication with our service providers uses TLS encryption (HTTPS)
  • No credentials or secrets are stored in plaintext

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be notified through the app or the Google Play listing. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
